With so many talented stylists in the Philadelphia and Bucks County areas, narrowing it down can feel overwhelming.   These are my tips for finding an artist that feels your vibe.
  • Identify Your Aesthetic: Do you find you gravitate towards natural or soft glam looks? Or are you leaning toward a whimsical boho-chic vibe? Look for artists whose portfolios consistently reflect the style you love.  I recommend looking at portfolios on Instagram, this is where you will find an artists most recent work in real time!
  • Check Local Reviews: Most artists will have reviews listed somewhere, and I do find they are very important, especially in the time of social media.  With so many artists filtering their photos, it's nice to hear from REAL clients in either facebook groups meant for finding vendors, or on their business google page about how they felt their makeup looked and lasted.
  • Prioritize the Trial: Never skip the trial or preview! This is your test drive to ensure the artist understands your hair texture and skin type.  During your trial, I learn not only what products may or may not work best for your skin, but how products oxidize on your specific skin chemistry.  You might be suprised to learn that a blush can lean warm or cool 2 separate clients despite them having the same undertones, simply because everyone's pH is different (makeup science is wild)  It's also important, because we sometime's try a look exactly like an inspiration photo you may have loved, but then you see it on and find something totally different would suit your features better.  It’s also a great time to see if your personalities click!  I typically leave feeling like besties with my clients, so we look forward to seeing eachother again on the big day.

As a hair and makeup artist, I always tell my brides: Your makeup is only as good as the skin underneath.
If you want your foundation to stay locked in through a sunny ceremony and a night of dancing, your prep starts months before you put on the dress.
Here is the ultimate guide to prepping your skin for a flawless summer bridal look.

The Summer Bridal Glow: How to Prep Your Skin for a Heat-Proof Wedding Day
When the temperatures rise, your skin reacts. Between increased oil production, sun exposure, and the dreaded "makeup meltdown," a summer bride needs a strategic skincare routine.
Whether you’re getting married at a riverside venue in Bucks County or a rustic barn in Lancaster, here is how to ensure your skin is ready for the spotlight.
1. Hydration is Your Best Friend (Inside and Out) It sounds counterintuitive, but oily summer skin is often actually dehydrated. When your skin lacks water, it overproduces oil to compensate, which can lead to makeup sliding off by cocktail hour.
  • The Fix: Drink plenty of water in the weeks leading up to the big day.
  • The Product: Switch to a lightweight, hyaluronic acid-based serum. It provides the moisture your skin needs without the heavy, greasy feel of a winter cream.
2. Consistent, Gentle Exfoliation To get that "lit-from-within" glow, you need to clear away dead skin cells that can make makeup look patchy or dull.
  • The Routine: Start a gentle chemical exfoliant (like lactic or mandelic acid) 3–4 months before the wedding.
  • Pro-Tip: Avoid harsh physical scrubs or starting a brand-new, high-strength peel within two weeks of your date to prevent unexpected breakouts or redness.  The viral skin ingredient trentanoin can be incredibly harsh and drying when you first start, so this is a skincare no-no to try 3 months before your wedding.  I recommend trying it 12-18 months out, and discontinue use if you notice your skin is still dry, flakey, or irritated 6 months out to let your skin barrier heal.
3. Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable A "bridal glow" is beautiful; a "bridal sunburn" or tan lines from your favorite tank top are not.
  • The Strategy: Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every single day on both your face and body leading up to your wedding day. If you’re spending time outdoors for your bachelorette party or bridal shower, be extra vigilant about your neckline and shoulders.
  • The Artist’s Secret: On the wedding day itself, I use a sun-safe primer or a very sheer SPF that doesn't cause "flashback" in wedding photography.
4. Handle the "Summer Shine" Humidity can make even the driest skin feel slick.
  • The Prep: In the month leading up to the wedding, use a clay mask once a week in your T-zone to keep pores clear and oil production balanced.
  • The Big Day: On the morning of, I’ll use a mattifying primer and strategicly placed powders and long wearing formulas in specific areas to ensure you look radiant in person but shine-free in your portraits.
5. Don’t Forget the Body Your face isn't the only thing on display! Most summer wedding gowns show off the shoulders, back, and arms.
  • The Routine: Use a gentle body scrub or acid based body wash twice a week and follow up with a firming or deeply hydrating body lotion. This creates a smooth canvas for any shimmer or body glow products we apply on the wedding day

The Final Countdown: One Week To Go In the final seven days, the goal is maintenance and moisture.
  1. No New Products: This is not the time to try a sample you got at the store!
  2. Professional Facials: Schedule your final professional facial at least 10–14 days before the wedding if you have maintained a scheduled pamper sesh leading up to the big day.
  3. Sleep & Stress Management: It’s easier said than done, but rest is the best-kept secret for clear, bright skin.  Chamomile and Valerian root tea provide both relaxation and hydration!  Peppermint and Ginger tea aid in soothing digestion and reduce water retention.

There is something truly magical about the spring light in Lancaster, Pensylvania. Especially this past Sunday, when we had such a beautiful, sunny and warm- PERFECT day.  It provided the perfect backdrop for a modern bride.
I had the pleasure of collaborating with a group of incredibly talented local wedding vendors to create a bridal look that balances that classic timeless bridal look you wont regret years down the road, yet remains current enough for the modern bride. When doing the makeup for this editorial on our lovely model, I wanted the makeup to feel modern and natural, but remain timeless. We focused on:
  • Radiant Skin: We began with skin prep; I used exfoliating pads to create a smooth base, and an ultra hydrating moisturizer as the perfect primer to ensure the glow lasted through the outdoor shots.  I chose a long wearing foundation that has lots of hydrating skincare ingredients in it, to ensure that the makeup lasts, but also looks great and lays great on the model's skin for a long day, the same as I would for all of my brides.
  • Defined Eyes: Soft, rosy neutral tones to enhance the model's natural eye shape without looking heavy.  This eye look was classic- A soft smokey brown wing and a bright white gold shimmer on the lids made her eyes really pop while still looking natural in photos.  We finished the look with some natural lashes, which really make her eyes pop.
  • The Perfect Nude Lip: A timeless choice for any bride!  I used one of my favorite glosses- a cool toned pink lip plumper by buxom.
The Hair Hair by Liana G worked her magic, creating a style that felt both structured and soft. It’s the kind of hair that looks just as good at the end of the reception as it does walking down the aisle.
The Florals Wild Indigo brought the wow factor with a bouncy bouquet that felt like it was plucked straight from a lush Lancaster garden. The textures and organic shapes perfectly complemented the romantic bridal aesthetic.
